Mile 756
Hey, I’m at Cornelius Creek Shelter. To recap the past few days, I took two zeros in Daleville, mainly to let my leg heal from a bad shin split. And I got some new gear, got a new pack, got a new phone, and watched the World Cup, and even got a ride into Roanoke to watch a movie. So was pretty nice.
Hit the trail a couple days ago and my leg feels fine. I haven’t felt any pain really, so that’s really good. Today was just super hot. We got to this swimming hole and that was a huge relief to just jump in there and cool off. Kooper was pretty funny trying to swim at me. But that was cool.
Then I went on to Bryant Ridge Shelter, which was this massive shelter which puts all the other shelters to shame really. I don’t know why it’s so big, because there’s no real easy way to get to it, and it’s not really near anything. But super nice shelter. Then we made a huge climb, a couple thousand feet over about five miles to the shelter I’m at now.
I don’t think I’ve ever sweat as much before in my life. It was ridiculously hot going up that mountain and humid. I think I’ll have to start carrying more water because it was just, I’ve never sweat that much before. It was insane.
So that’s it. That’s the recap. That’s where I’m at. 756 miles in. Peace.
